Gifts In-Kind
Charitable giving comes in many shapes and sizes, including gifts of personal property as well as time and service.

-
Gifts of personal property
-
When you donate products to the Foundation, you’re making a valuable gift in-kind. While IRS rules require us to follow strict guidelines—such as not providing a dollar value for these gifts—your contribution is truly appreciated and impactful. Only you can determine the value of your in-kind gift. If your gift is valued at $500 or more, you’ll need to file IRS form 8283 with your tax return. For gifts valued over $5,000, an independent appraisal is also required. We’re here to help you navigate this process and ensure your generosity makes a meaningful difference.
-
Contact Ryan Parker in the Foundation office if you would like to make an in-kind contribution to any of Nashville State’s programs or departments.
-
-
Gifts of Time and Service
-
Your time and talent are priceless to us, and we deeply appreciate every volunteer who helps make our work possible. While the IRS does not permit a tax deduction for donated time or services, please know that your contribution is invaluable and makes a lasting impact on our community.
-
For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact Sierra Leach in the Foundation office.

Gifts of Stock
If you would like to gift securities, please contact Ryan Parker in the Foundation office to request transfer instructions.

Donor Bill of Rights
The Donor Bill of Rights was created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits. It has been endorsed by numerous organizations.

Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. It is a tradition of giving and sharing that is primary to the quality of life. To assure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the not-for-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, we declare that all donors have these rights:

-
To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
-
To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organization’s governing board, and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
-
To have access to the organization’s most recent financial statements.
-
To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
-
To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
-
To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
-
To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
-
To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.
-
To have the opportunity for their names to be deleted from mailing lists that an organization may intend to share.
-
To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
